Health, Safety, and COVID-19 Protocols

PLIDA is preparing for the International Perinatal Bereavement Conference with the health, safety, and well-being of our attendees, speakers/presenters, exhibitors, sponsors, and staff in mind.

We will continue to monitor and update safety precautions suggested by trusted national resources, state and local public health agencies, and the hotel hosting IPBC.

The Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel is following all guidance from the CDC and from corporate Marriott, as well as the city of Denver and Colorado state regulations. As part of Marriott International's family of brands, several new protocols and elevated practices have been implemented, as a response to COVID-19 and maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and commitment to providing excellent service.

  • Currently the hotel staff is required to wear masks as part of a corporate policy.

  • PLIDA encourages all attendees to wear masks aside from eating and drinking.

  • In public spaces, the hotel has added to its already rigorous cleaning protocols, requiring that surfaces are treated with hospital-grade disinfectants and that this cleaning is done with increased frequency.
    • In guest rooms, Marriott has added to its detailed cleaning practices, requiring all surfaces to be thoroughly cleaned with hospital-grade disinfectants. In the US, wipes will be available upon guest request at the front desk.

    • Electrostatic sprayers, with hospital-grade disinfectants, are placed throughout the hotel.
  • Air purifying systems are activated and in place, protecting against viruses in the air and on surfaces.
    • The hotel will be using signage in its lobbies to remind guests to maintain social distancing protocols and will remove or re-arrange furniture to allow more space for distancing.
    • Additional hand sanitizing stations have been placed around the hotel - near the entrances and front desks, elevator banks and fitness and meeting spaces.
    • At Marriot, food handlers and supervisors are trained on safe food preparation and service practices. Marriott is enhancing sanitation guidelines and training videos for associates that include hygiene and disinfecting practices. In addition, the company is modifying its operational practices for in-room dining and designing new approaches to buffets.
    • Mobile check-in and key, service requests, and room service orders delivered right to your door.

    • The hotel has increased the frequency of cleaning and disinfection, particularly in areas with high traffic including restrooms, elevators, and escalators as well as provided more hand sanitizing stations.
