As Chair of the new PLIDA Advancement Committee, I would like to introduce myself and this exciting new committee.
My name is Paige del Castillo, MSN, RNC-OB, NE-BC. My journey with perinatal bereavement began in 2005 when I was a bedside nurse in labor & delivery. I knew this work was incredibly meaningful and made it my mission to create a bereavement program to give to our patients. In 2014, I found others who shared my same passion at the PLIDA conference in San Antonio, Texas. This group has a vision of bereavement care I never imagined possible. Because I believe so greatly in PLIDA, I wanted to find a way to help the vision of PLIDA come to fruition. I understand how important it is to gain funding to continue this work. That is my "why" for becoming involved in the advancement committee.

The PLIDA Advancement Committee is responsible for looking at financial opportunities (grants, corporate sponsorships, and relationships to advance PLIDA’s footprint and financial health). These financial opportunities ensure PLIDA can provide best practice education, research, position statements, and public awareness to support those caring for families who lose a baby at any gestation.

THE ADVANCEMENT TEAM IS LOOKING FOR THOSE WITH THE FOLLOWING EXPERIENCE.

  • Financial Opportunity Leads
    • Identify grant, financial, or corporate support opportunities that align with our mission
  • Proposal Manager
    • Oversee proposal process, work with grant writers, and support PLIDA staff to assist in copy editing, formatting, and final assembly of proposal
  • Grant Writers
    • Lead writer
    • Works in collaboration with support team
  • Reviewers
    • Review each draft revision and make recommendations
  • Editors
    • Ensure correct writing structure, format, and grammar is used throughout each proposal
  • Administrative Experience
  • Financial Background or Experience

If you have any of the skills and experience noted above, we will welcome your participation and addition to the team. Even if you are just getting your toes wet in this area, we invite you to be part of this committee. The committee will be made up of those with more experience than others and we all work and learn together.
