Session Description:

Pregnancy and childbirth following loss can be accompanied by profound fear, grief, and emotional vulnerability, even when an unborn baby is healthy, the pregnancy is progressing well, and clinical outcomes are reassuring. The anticipation of welcoming another child may bring renewed hope - while also intensifying grief, triggering traumatic memories, and heightening fears.

This PLIDA webinar highlights the essential role of interdisciplinary collaboration in addressing the unique needs of patients navigating pregnancy and birth after profound trauma and significant personal loss. Through a compelling case study, participants will explore the multifaceted, interconnected clinical, psychological, and personal dimensions of evidence-based, trauma-informed, whole-person care. The presentation will demonstrate how an individualized plan of care - grounded in safety, empathy, respect, and compassionate support - can empower patients, foster resilience and hope, enhance maternal well-being, and contribute to positive outcomes for mothers and babies.
